In order for a vehicle to be registered as an Antique Motor Vehicle and to receive antique license plates, the vehicle must be at least 25 years old. The customer must complete the Application for Antique License Plates Form VTR-54 (available at www.txdmv.gov/forms). To obtain registration, proof of insurance or waiver from the Texas Department of Public Safety (SR-2), documentation verifying ownership and the required fees must be provided.
